Mokan Dial is a large telephone and internet service provider with over 100 years in the industry. For such a large company, it can come as a surprise for residents of Miami County to learn that Mokan Dial is an anonymous donor to the Miami County Community Foundation.
“We wanted to continue to do what’s best for the county,” explained Chase Custer. Custer is the Director of Finance at Mokan Dial, and also a resident of Miami County. Custer understands the importance of a company such as Mokan Dial giving back to a county where some of its critical infrastructures are housed. “Miami County is the hub of Mokan Dial,” said Custer “That’s where our critical operations and our facilities are for our company.”
Custer was joined in the interview by Buster Brady, Director of Operations for Townes Telecommunications. Brady is also involved in giving back to the residents that his company serves in Miami County.
With Miami County experiencing rapid growth and more and more Americans wanting to purchase from companies that give back to their communities, it only made sense to support community programs. Thankfully, Miami County Community Foundation had a variety of grants and scholarships that Mokan Dial and Townes Telecommunications could support.
“We wanted the foundation to use our donations as they saw fit for the needs at that time,” said Custer. Both Custer and Brady felt Miami County held a special place in their hearts, and they wanted to put “their best foot forward” and make sure as companies and individuals they supported the growth and development of the county.
Thanks to their companies’ donations, scholarships such as the D.O. Smith Scholarship are able to get the funds they need to sponsor Miami County students to enroll in nursing programs. “From a giving standpoint Miami County Community Foundation knows best,” said Brady. “They know what’s going to get the biggest bang for your buck in Miami County.”
Mokan Dial and Townes Telecommunications remain committed to community development in Miami County, and they continue to be supporters and donors to the Miami County Community Foundation.
