Thanks to First Option Bank and the Patterson Family Foundation, every dollar raised during September worked twice as hard — funding programs, scholarships and local philanthropic projects across Miami County.

A 10-acre corn maze, pumpkin patch, wagon rides, farm animals and play areas, open daily through Sunday November 1. Zombie Forest Night runs after dark on October 17 and 24, and the Burning of the Scarecrow is on October 24.
Children sign up for a 15-minute slot to read aloud to Dazy, a therapy dog. Sessions on October 6, 10 and 20; RSVP through the library’s sign-up form.
Each chamber coffee is hosted by a different local business or organisation, with coffee, introductions and news from around the county. Swap outgrown Halloween costumes for ones that fit, at the Louisburg Library over two days.
A glow-stick 5K at dusk, followed by a free outdoor screening of Zootopia and a hot dog dinner with Spring Hill police and local churches. Food bank donations are welcome.
Choose an 18, 40 or 45-mile ride on the Flint Hills Trail, with a t-shirt and Bull Creek BBQ meal at the finish, or join the free 4-mile family ride at 10 AM. Proceeds support the John Brown Foundation.
Celebrates 110 years of the Community Center with live music in the historic theater from noon, games and activities, and the Paola Rec Commission’s Chili Cook-Off & Hot Wings Challenge from 12 to 3 PM. No registration needed to attend.

Local musicians play staggered one-hour acoustic sets on front porches along Brown Avenue, with food vendors on site. Organized by the Osawatomie Arts Commission.

A costume contest at 5 PM, then a parade down Main Street at 5:30 led by the Osawatomie High and Middle School bands, with local businesses handing out treats.
Safe trick-or-treating, games, a pumpkin graveyard and a photo booth, run by the Spring Hill Recreation Commission. Public voting on the Pumpkin Carving Contest entries happens here too.
Louisburg Library’s 10th annual Halloween trivia night for teams of two to four. Registration is required.
An adults-only costume party with a DJ, costume contest, meal box and silent auction, raising money for the Osawatomie Public Library expansion. Two drink vouchers are included for guests 21 and over.
A free teen movie with snacks in the early afternoon, then a Halloween party with a ghost hunt before the Paola parade.
Paola’s annual Halloween parade on the square, with local businesses handing out candy. The library’s Roselda Rides Again family story time at 4:30 PM leads straight into it; the Chamber has not yet published the route.

Marks the hospital’s 160th anniversary with tours of non-patient areas, historical exhibits, a ceremony, food trucks and children’s activities. The morning starts with the Run the Hill 5K ($30, packet pickup 9:30 AM).
A 5K, a one-mile race and a kids’ race at Lake Miola, with a pancake breakfast afterwards. Proceeds support the Paola High School cross country program; register through the Paola Recreation Commission.
Local makers sell handmade gifts and holiday décor across several floors of Town Square Events.
Teams race to finish the same jigsaw puzzle in a timed competition run by the Spring Hill Recreation Commission.

The mayor lights Paola’s Christmas tree on the square, and Santa pays a visit. The Chamber will publish more details closer to the date.
The Cider Mill’s Country Store holds its holiday open house with product samples on two Saturdays, ahead of Santa’s visit on December 12.
Caroling by Spring Hill elementary students and a tree lighting with the mayor, then photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus. There is also a flashlight candy cane hunt, cookie decorating, crafts and free hot chocolate.
Louisburg’s downtown holiday celebration along Broadway, with the Elliott family tree lighting at 5:20 PM and a light-up parade at 5:30 PM. Santa visits by appointment at City Hall.
The Veterans Outdoors Foundation’s third annual end-of-year gala, raising money for its work with veterans and first responders.
All-you-can-eat pancakes cooked by the Spring Hill Ruritans, and photos with Santa. Run by the Spring Hill Recreation Commission, and registration is required.
